This blog is about saving money and still having a good life.
The global economy is tanking, and millions of people are being forced to scale back their lifestyles to survive the crisis.*
Thriftwork can help!
Since necessity is the mother of invention, I've been living well on a bare bones budget for years. I've collected a host of money-saving strategies over my years as a college student, social services worker, AmeriCorps national service member, Park Service intern, certified nursing assistant, and now public health department employee. Every time I do my taxes, I'm shocked at how much I've been able to do with so little, even in places with sky-high cost-of-living like San Francisco and Alaska.
I'm writing Thriftwork to share what I've found with others looking for solutions. It's my way of honoring family, friends, and strangers who helped me when I needed them. I'll bring you a wealth of advice on how to shop smarter, eat better, strengthen relationships, and have more fun with less.
At your service!
Kate
*disclaimer: I don't presume to represent, speak for, or even fully understand the situations of people catastrophically affected by the mortgage and/or stock market crises. As a renter with no such investments, I make no claims to experiencing the full force of these burdens. I am just your average American worker dealing with low wages, high fuel and food costs, and general uncertainty of what the future holds.
